Nigerian Music Star Asake Reconciles with Father, Commits to Family Responsibilities

Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has mended his relationship with his father, Fatai Odunsi, following a period of estrangement. The reconciliation comes after public appeals from Odunsi, who had accused his son of neglect amid health challenges.

Odunsi, who has been battling a stroke that left parts of his body paralyzed, recently voiced his grievances in a viral video. He claimed that since his health declined in 2022, Asake had been distant and unresponsive to his needs. This public outcry prompted widespread discussions about familial obligations, especially concerning successful offspring supporting their parents.

In response to the video, Asake reached out to his father, leading to a heartfelt reconciliation. In a subsequent interview shared by digital creator Aki Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, Odunsi expressed pride in his son and offered prayers for his continued success. Speaking in Yoruba, he remarked, “I am proud of him,” and emphasized that their differences had been resolved.

Beyond mending their relationship, Asake has taken significant steps to ensure his father’s well-being. Odunsi disclosed that his son has committed to purchasing a new house for him, with real estate agents already scouting for suitable properties. He stated, “Asake said he will do everything that I want. We have settled, no more problems. They are now looking for a new house that he will buy for me.”

Additionally, Asake has pledged to cover all medical expenses related to his father’s condition. Odunsi mentioned plans to visit the hospital, confident that his son had provided all necessary support for his treatment.

Amid the reconciliation, another issue surfaced involving a woman named Adijat, who alleged that Asake had neglected their 11-year-old daughter, Zeenat. Adijat claimed that despite supporting Asake during his early career, he became unresponsive after achieving fame, providing minimal support for their child.

Responding to these allegations, Odunsi confirmed that Asake has acknowledged his responsibilities toward Zeenat. He assured that his son has never denied his child and has now promised to take full responsibility for her upbringing.
