Caught in the Act: Ogun Police Nab 25-Year-Old Cable Thief in Daring Heist

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Aron Hassan for allegedly stealing electric cables valued at approximately N500,000 in the Igbesa community, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area. The arrest occurred on February 11, 2025, at Hassan’s workplace, where he was reportedly caught in the act of cutting the cables.

According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, the incident was reported by Yakubu Mohammad, the Chief Security Officer of Quantum Company, Igbesa. Mohammad informed the police that security personnel had apprehended Hassan, a casual staff member, while he was cutting the cables. During interrogation, Hassan was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his actions and did not deny the allegations. The case has been documented and referred to the District Criminal Bureau for further investigation, with plans to charge Hassan in court.

This arrest follows a similar incident in January 2025, where the Ogun State Police Command detained two individuals, Agbo Jeremiah and Sunday Ngbuta, for allegedly vandalizing and stealing cable wires and iron rods in the Ogunmakin area of Owode Egba. In that case, a vigilant driver transporting the suspects and the stolen goods raised suspicions, leading to their apprehension by the police. citeturn0search0
