Delta State Police Neutralize Four Suspected Kidnappers in Agbarho

The sequence of events commenced on March 9, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., when operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) apprehended an individual attempting to procure ammunition for an AK-47 rifle. Upon interrogation, the suspect disclosed the location of the concealed firearm, prompting law enforcement to strategize an intervention.

Acting on the intelligence gathered, CP-SAT operatives advanced to a bush area adjacent to the railway line in Agbarho. Upon arrival, they encountered armed gang members who, upon detecting police presence, initiated an assault. The ensuing exchange of gunfire resulted in four suspects sustaining critical injuries. The operatives successfully retrieved an AK-47 rifle with an accompanying magazine from the scene.

The injured suspects were promptly transported to the General Hospital in Ughelli for medical attention. Despite the efforts of healthcare professionals, all four individuals were pronounced dead. Their remains have been secured in the hospital’s mortuary pending further investigation.

The Delta State Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend additional members of the kidnapping syndicate who evaded capture during the operation. A resident of Ibusa reported to the local police station that his friend’s wife had been abducted on March 7, 2025, with a ransom subsequently paid. This collaboration culminated in the arrest of a suspect, identified as Abdulahi Isah, within the Ibasa community’s forested area. Isah is currently detained as investigations proceed.
