Niger State Police Rescued Kidnap Student

The Niger State Police Command has successfully rescued a 36-year-old student, Cornelius Damulak, who was abducted from his residence in Bwari, Abuja, on February 6, 2025.

Damulak, a student of Veritas University Abuja, managed to escape his captors after seven days in captivity and was found by a police patrol team along the Pogo-Paiko highway near Minna. He had traversed several kilometers on foot before being rescued.

During his ordeal, Damulak was moved through various forests by his abductors, who were seeking a secure location to detain him. Upon his escape on February 13, he was discovered disoriented and exhausted by the patrol team. The police promptly provided medical attention and are currently working to reunite him with his family.

In a separate operation, officers from the Maitumbi Division intercepted a vehicle transporting stolen livestock along the Gwada-Maitumbi Road. Five suspects, including Mohammed Ibrahim and Ibrahim Yakubu, were apprehended.

The livestock, comprising 11 cows and 34 sheep, had been stolen from a residence in Kuchi, Munya Local Government Area. The suspects intended to sell the animals in Minna. The recovered livestock are being held as evidence, and efforts are underway to locate their rightful owners.

These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges of kidnapping and livestock theft in the region. The Niger State Police Command continues to intensify its efforts to combat such criminal activities and ensure the safety and security of its residents.
