Primeboy Sues Mohbad’s Mother for ₦50 Million Over Alleged False Accusations

Owodunni Ibrahim, widely known as ‘Primeboy’ and a close associate of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the mohbad’s mother, Abosede Aloba. The legal action, initiated in February 2025, seeks ₦50 million in damages.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that have since sparked widespread speculation and investigation. In the aftermath, various narratives emerged concerning the events leading up to his death. In October 2024, during an online interview, mohbad’s mother alleged that Primeboy had a confrontation with her son prior to his demise. These assertions were disseminated across multiple media platforms, amplifying public scrutiny of Primeboy’s relationship with the late artist.

In response to these allegations, Primeboy, through his legal counsel, Akinpelu Ogunbona, issued a statement refuting the claims. He described the statements made by Mohbad’s mother as “libelous, injurious, and malicious,” contending that they were designed to tarnish his reputation. The lawsuit demands ₦50 million as compensation for the damages purportedly inflicted by these statements.

The legal document specifies: “The sum of ₦50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira only) being exemplary damages for libelous, injurious, falsehood, and malicious statements made of and concerning the Claimant by the Defendant in a video interview made on the 28th of March, 2024, and published in several news media and online news outlets, designed to defame the Claimant in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society.”

The writ further mandates that Abosede Aloba respond to the allegations within 42 days from the date of service. Failure to do so may result in the court proceeding in her absence, potentially leading to a default judgment. This legal battle adds another layer to the ongoing discourse surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death, highlighting the complexities and emotional toll on those involved.

As the case progresses, it underscores the broader implications of public statements and the legal recourse available to individuals who believe they have been defamed. The outcome may set a precedent for similar cases in the entertainment industry and beyond, emphasizing the importance of verifying information before dissemination.
