Zamfara state Partners with Chinese Firms to Boost Security, Agriculture, and Infrastructure
Zamfara State has embarked on a strategic collaboration with Chinese enterprises to enhance security measures and bolster key economic sectors, including agriculture, transportation, and mining. This initiative stems from Governor Dauda Lawal’s recent working visit to China, where he engaged with prominent firms such as Zhong Zhao International Group, Phoenix Wings, Shenzhen HighGreat Innovation Technology Development Co. Ltd, and Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co. Ltd.
During the visit, Governor Lawal and Zhong Zhao International Group formalized a partnership focusing on organic fertilizer production and mechanized farming. The agreement encompasses training local farmers in organic agricultural practices, deploying advanced machinery, and establishing organic fertilizer manufacturing facilities within Zamfara State.
In the realm of security, the state government is collaborating with Phoenix Wings, a Chinese firm renowned for its expertise in surveillance technology, including drone applications. This partnership aims to implement sophisticated systems to effectively address challenges such as banditry and kidnapping that have plagued the region.
The delegation also engaged with Shenzhen HighGreat Innovation Technology Development Co., Ltd, exploring advancements in innovation, robotics, and drone display technologies. Discussions with Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co., Ltd, and Xiamen King Long United Automobile Industry Co., Ltd, centered on developing modern transportation hubs and introducing mass transit systems to improve mobility within and beyond the state.
Additionally, the state is in talks with WEICAI LOVOL International Trading Company to integrate smart agriculture solutions, including advanced management platforms and the provision of tractors, aiming to modernize farming practices. Engagements with Tibet Ming Company are focused on attracting investments in mining, emphasizing sustainable practices and the adoption of modern technologies to enhance mineral exploration in Zamfara.
Governor Lawal expressed optimism about these collaborations, highlighting the potential for economic growth and improved security. He emphasized that these partnerships are integral to his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s economy and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Mallam Abubakar Nakwada, who was part of the delegation to China, underscored the productivity of the visit. He noted that the swift follow-up by the Chinese companies, marked by their visit to Zamfara, signifies a promising start to the implementation of the agreements reached.
This strategic move aligns with Zamfara’s broader vision to harness international partnerships for sustainable development, aiming to transform the state’s economic landscape and address longstanding security concerns.
